2. Information We Collect

When you use CaseStatus Alert, we collect the following information:

  • Your USCIS receipt number (for case tracking)
  • Your WhatsApp phone number (for sending alerts)
  • Your alert frequency preference (daily, weekly, monthly, or change-only)
  • Technical information such as IP address and browser type

3. How We Use Your WhatsApp Contact Details

Your WhatsApp phone number is used exclusively to:

  • Send you USCIS case status updates according to your chosen frequency
  • Send service-related notifications (e.g., account changes, service updates)
  • Respond to support requests

We will never share your WhatsApp number with third parties for marketing purposes without your consent.

4. Third-Party Platforms and Providers

CaseStatus Alert uses third-party platforms and service providers to deliver our service:

  • WhatsApp LLC — We transmit your phone number and case status messages to WhatsApp for message delivery. WhatsApp uses this data according to its own privacy policy to facilitate message delivery.
  • USCIS — We retrieve publicly available case status information from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website to provide you with updates.
  • Cloud Hosting Providers — We use cloud infrastructure providerss to store your account data, USCIS receipt numbers, and service logs. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.

These providers have their own privacy policies and terms of service. We encourage you to review them.

5. Data Retention Policy

We retain different categories of personal data for different periods:

  • USCIS Receipt Numbers: Retained for the duration of your account, or 30 days after account closure or the final deletion request, whichever comes first.
  • WhatsApp Phone Numbers: Retained for the duration of your account, or 30 days after account closure or deletion request.
  • Service Logs and Technical Data: Retained for 90 days for security and troubleshooting purposes, then automatically deleted.
  • Failed Delivery Records: Retained for 30 days to diagnose delivery issues, then deleted.
  • Inactive Accounts: Accounts with no activity for 12 months may be marked as dormant. Dormant accounts are retained for 24 months from the last activity date. After 24 months of inactivity, accounts are deleted automatically unless you log in to reactivate.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights and Data Deletion

You have the right to:

  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Update or correct your information
  • Opt out of alerts at any time
  • Close your account at any time

How to Request Deletion or Close Your Account

To request data deletion or close your account, please contact us at support@casestatusalert.com with a clear request indicating you want to delete your data or close your account.

Deletion Timeline

Upon receipt of a valid deletion or account closure request, we will delete your personal data within 30 calendar days. You will receive a confirmation email at the email address associated with your request once the deletion is complete.

8. Data Sales and Commercial Use

We do not sell your personal data. Your USCIS receipt numbers, phone numbers, and other personal information will not be sold, traded, rented, or otherwise disclosed for monetary or other consideration to any third party for their commercial or marketing purposes. This applies without exception.

9. Data Breach Notification

If we discover a data breach that compromises the security of your personal information, we will notify you of the breach as soon as practicable. Our notification will include:

  • A description of the breach and the types of personal information that were compromised
  • Steps we are taking to investigate and mitigate the breach
  • Recommended actions you can take to protect yourself
  • Contact information for further questions or concerns

Notifications will be sent to the email address or phone number associated with your account. We will also notify relevant regulators as required by law.

10. Business Transfer and Sale

In the event that CaseStatus Alert or MavenWell LLC is sold, merged, acquired, or transferred to another entity, or if we cease operations, your personal information may be transferred as part of that business transaction or asset sale. We will provide you with notice of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your personal information. Any successor entity will be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy unless you consent to different terms.

11. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: You have the right to request what personal information we collect, use, and share about you.
  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
